Parmish Verma: Movies & Box Office

Parmish Verma (born 3 July 1990) is an Indian singer, rapper, music video director, videographer and actor who has become a prominent figure in the Punjabi entertainment industry. Born in Patiala, Punjab, into a Punjabi Khatri family, he is the son of Dr. Satish Verma, a theatre artist, writer and professor, and Paramjit Kaur, a professor, and he grew up with two siblings, brother Sukhan Verma and sister Sherry Rana. His early exposure to the arts through his father’s theatre work sparked an interest in visual storytelling, which later led him to pursue a career in video direction while he was studying abroad in Australia. In 2009, Parmish debuted as a director with the socially conscious music video “Zimmewari Bhukh Te Doori,” a narrative drawn from his own hardships and the advice of Gurikk Maan, son of legendary Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan. The video’s raw energy and authentic storytelling earned him recognition and opened doors to collaborations with renowned artists such as Sharry Mann, Ninja, Akhil, Mankirat Aulakh and Dilpreet Dhillon, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and innovative director in the Punjabi music scene. Transitioning from behind the camera to the microphone, Parmish released his first single in 2015, quickly gaining popularity for his melodic blend of pop, hip‑hop and traditional Punjabi rhythms, and establishing a successful recording career with labels including Speed Records, T-Series, Sony Music India and Zee Music Company. In 2017 he expanded his artistic repertoire by making his acting debut in the film Rocky Mental, a performance that showcased his charismatic screen presence and led to lead roles in subsequent movies such as Dil Diyan Gallan (2019), which he also wrote and directed, Singham and the recent Jinde Meriye. Despite a harrowing incident in 2018 when he was shot by gang member Dilpreet Baba in Mohali, Parmish recovered fully and continued to thrive professionally. He married Canadian politician Guneet Grewal on 20 October 2021, and the couple welcomed their daughter Sadaa (meaning “forever”) on 30 September 2022. Today, Parmish Verma remains a dynamic force in Punjabi cinema and music, celebrated for his multifaceted talent, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to connect with audiences across cultures.
