Hélène Olivine Veilleux, known professionally as Nanette Bordeaux, was born on April 3, 1911, in Saint-Georges, Quebec, Canada, and would go on to establish herself as a distinctive presence in American cinema during the golden age of Hollywood short films and features. Born to a French Canadian family, Bordeaux relocated with her loved ones to New York City during the transformative 1930s, where she began pursuing her passion for performance by auditioning for various theatre productions throughout the bustling metropolitan area. Her breakthrough opportunity arrived in 1938 when she underwent a screen test at the prestigious Hal Roach Studios, impressively securing the role over fifty competing actresses, which launched her initial foray into the film industry. This early success demonstrated her natural on-screen charisma and potential for stardom in the competitive Hollywood landscape. During the early 1940s, she appeared in several smaller motion pictures under the name Francine Bordeaux, gradually building her resume and honing her craft before her eventual transition to more prominent studio work, including appearances in I Married an Angel and Women in Bondage.

In 1949, Bordeaux's career reached new heights when she was hired by Columbia Pictures director Jules White, subsequently becoming a familiar face in numerous short subjects and comedy reels, most notably alongside the legendary Three Stooges comedy team. Her genuine French accent became her trademark characteristic, leading to her frequent casting as the stereotypical French character Fifi in beloved films such as Hugs and Mugs, Pest Man Wins, A Missed Fortune, and Loose Loot. However, demonstrating her versatility as a performer, Bordeaux was also required to conceal her native accent beneath an Americanized dialect for roles in productions like Slaphappy Sleuths and Income Tax Sappy. Tragically, her promising career was abruptly cut short when she succumbed to acute bronchopneumonia on September 20, 1956, at the young age of forty-five in Los Angeles, California. Her final cinematic appearance came posthumously in A Merry Mix Up, released six months after her untimely death, cementing her legacy as a talented actress who made over fifteen film appearances during her fourteen-year career in the entertainment industry.
