Modesto Cid (25 March 1879 – 5 July 1954) was a Spanish film actor whose career spanned more than two decades during the golden age of Spanish cinema. Born in Ourense, a city in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain, Cid would eventually become a recognizable face in Spanish film productions during the 1930s, 1940s, and early 1950s. He began his acting career in 1933, at a time when the Spanish film industry was still developing its identity and voice, and he remained active in the industry until his death in 1954. Over the course of his career, Modesto Cid appeared in an impressive total of 67 films, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft as a character actor in Spanish productions.

Throughout his prolific career, Cid worked across various genres, including drama, comedy, and musical films, which were extremely popular during the post-Civil War era in Spain. Some of his notable works include The Wildcat (1936), Gentleman Thief (1946), When the Angels Sleep (1947), Unexpected Conflict (1948), The Drummer of Bruch (1948), His Heart Awake (1949), and That Luzmela Girl (1949). In the early 1950s, he continued to appear in numerous productions such as Apartado de correos 1001 (1950), The Honesty of the Lock (1950), The Vila Family (1950), Fog and Sun (1951), Doubt (1951), I Want to Marry You (1951), The King's Mail (1951), María Morena (1951), and Forbidden Trade (1952). His later works included Spanish Fantasy (1953), The Louts (1954), and Father Cigarette (1955), with the latter being released posthumously.

Cid passed away on 5 July 1954 in Barcelona, Spain, at the age of 75. Despite his extensive body of work and his contributions to Spanish cinema during a transformative period in the country's history, detailed biographical information about his personal life remains scarce. His legacy lives on through the numerous films he contributed to during one of the most dynamic eras of Spanish filmmaking.
