Biography

Who Is Michelle Wilson?

Michelle Wilson was born in Homerton, London, England in 1962 and is 64 years old. Credited on films since 1991, as an actor. The background, training and the roles that shaped the career.

Michelle Danielle Collins (born 28 May 1962) is a British actress, model, and television presenter whose career has spanned over four decades. Born in Homerton, London, she grew up in Highbury with her Welsh mother Mary and a father of English and Flemish descent; her paternal grandfather emigrated from Antwerp in 1915. From the age of fourteen she trained at the Royal Court Activists and Cockpit Youth Theatre and studied drama at Kingsway Princeton College, laying a solid foundation for her future work. After university, Collins broke into professional theatre with a role in Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Crimson Island at the Gate Theatre and later appeared in the 1978 music video for Squeeze’s “Cool For Cats”. She also sang as a backing vocalist for Mari Wilson before returning fully to acting, landing early TV credits alongside Gary Oldman in Morgan’s Boy and guest spots in Bergerac and The Bill. These formative experiences honed her versatility and prepared her for the breakthrough role that would define her public persona.*

In 1988 Collins was cast as Cindy Beale in the BBC soap EastEnders, a manipulative and reckless character who quickly became a fan‑favorite villain, extending her contract and cementing her place in British television history. After a decade‑long association with the show—including a dramatic 2023 return—she diversified her résumé with leading roles in Real Women, Sunburn (where she sang the UK‑charted theme), Two Thousand Acres of Sky, and a celebrated stint as Stella Price on ITV’s Coronation Street (2011‑2014). Beyond soaps, Collins has appeared in the acclaimed drama The Illustrated Mum, the West End musical Daddy Cool, and a 2007 episode of Doctor Who. Her personal life includes a daughter born in 1996 with ex‑partner Fabrizio Tassalini and a marriage to Mike Davidson in 2022. An active philanthropist, she serves as an ambassador for Oxfam and Ambitious about Autism and champions education worldwide.
