Marie-Josée Croze is a Canadian actress born on February 23, 1970, in Montreal, Quebec. Adopted at birth, she grew up in Longueuil among four other children. Croze attended the Cégep du Vieux Montréal from 1986 to 1987, studying fine arts, before beginning her acting career in 1989. She is a distinguished actress who has worked both in Canadian and International cinema. She obtained French nationality in December 2012, making her a dual citizen of both Canada and France. In her early career, she received the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at the 21st Genie Awards for her role in Denis Villeneuve's 'Maelström' (2000). Following this, in 2003, she went on to win the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in 'The Barbarian Invasions'.

In 2005, she was cast by acclaimed director, Steven Spielberg, in his film 'Munich'. Croze continued to expand her repertoire, playing a speech therapist in Julian Schnabel's 2007 film adaptation of Jean-Dominique Bauby's memoir 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly'. Her career is deeply varied, with roles ranging from film to television, including a place on the main competition jury at the 2012 International Film Festival of Marrakech.
