Luigi Almirante (30 September 1886 – 6 May 1963) was a distinguished Italian stage and film actor whose career spanned nearly five decades during the golden age of Italian theater and cinema. Born in Tunis, the capital of the French protectorate of Tunisia, where his father's theatrical company was touring at the time, Almirante was practically destined for the stage. The son of a stage actor, he grew up immersed in the world of performance and made his stage debut at the remarkably young age of 14. He began his professional career in 1907, specializing in humorous roles, and achieved his major breakthrough in 1909 when he joined the renowned Grand Guignol stage company directed by Alfredo Sainati. During World War I, Almirante served at the Soldier's Theatre in Udine, working under the direction of Renato Simoni, an experience that further refined his craft. After the war, he became associated with the Antonio Gandusio company for three years, before eventually joining the Theater Company Niccodemi, where he remained until 1923.

In 1925, Almirante partnered with his cousin Italia Almirante Manzini to form a stage company that toured successfully across the United States. He continued to collaborate with prominent theater figures throughout the late 1920s and early 1930s, forming companies with Giuditta Rissone and Sergio Tofano in 1928, and later with Andreina Pagnani and Nino Besozzi in 1931. Starting in 1932, he gradually transitioned to the film industry, where he appeared in 62 films until his retirement in 1955. Though primarily cast in supporting and character roles, he demonstrated remarkable versatility in productions such as I'll Give a Million (1935), Miseria e nobiltà (1940), and Boccaccio (1940). His final screen appearance was in The Last Five Minutes (1955), playing the role of the Cardinal's secretary. In addition to acting, Almirante served as a teacher at the Accademia d'Arte Drammatica, while also working as a voice actor and a dubber, contributing significantly to Italian theatrical culture.
