Alejandro Pastor López, better known as Àlex Pastor, was born on 17th July 1979 and is a former politician for the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC). His political career took off when he was first elected to Badalona City Council in 2015. He showed promise as a politician and ascended the ranks to become mayor in 2018. However, his promising political career took a turn for the worse on April 22nd, 2020, when he was arrested and later convicted for drink driving and assaulting a police officer. Prior to his political career, Pastor had obtained degrees in Labour Relations and Labour Sciences. He was an active participant in a student's organization and also an active member in the youth wing of the PSC. Despite his initial unsuccessful election run for the city council in 1995, Pastor continued to persevere in his public service, quietly working as a civil servant in an employment-related department. His breakthrough would come 20 years later in 2015, when he was finally elected to serve in the city council. Despite his party's disappointing result, Pastor played a pivotal role in deciding the political leanings of the council, acting as the key decision-maker in choosing which candidate to back for mayor. This ultimately resulted in Pastor tabling a vote of no confidence in Sabater in 2018, an act that would solidify his position as mayor after securing his office in the 2019 elections. Despite his promising political trajectory, Pastor's credibility took a severe hit when he was caught driving erratically, refusing a breathalyser test, and assaulting officers on 21 April 2020. This event led to his immediate suspension from his party and his resultant resignation the following day. It was reported that Pastor's job and personal life had caused him significant physical and psychological harm.
