Lech Majewski: Movies & Box Office

Lech Majewski is a multi-talented Polish artist born on 30th August 1953. Majewski, born in Katowice, Poland, is primarily recognized as a film and theatre director, but his skills also encompass writing, poetry, and painting. His educational journey began at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and continued at the National Film School in Łódź in the 1970s, where he honed his directing skills under the guidance of Wojciech Has. As Poland entered martial law in the early 80s, Majewski relocated first to England and then to the United States; during this period, he predominantly resided in the US until the end of the Communist era. Majewski, who possesses dual US-Polish citizenship, constantly travels between these countries and others. Asserting his mark in international cinema, he is part of the American and European film academies, as well as the Polish International PEN. Despite his excellent command over English, Majewski often collaborates with native English speakers for his scripts. His filmography spans more than three decades, with notable works including; 'The Knight' (1980), 'Glass Lips' (2007), and 'Valley of the Gods' (2019). His contributions to Cinema have been recognized by institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, where in 2006, the first-ever full retrospective of a Polish filmmaker was conducted in his honor.
