Lauren Greenfield: Movies, Awards & Box Office

Lauren Greenfield (born Jun 28, 1966) is an American artist, documentary photographer, and documentary filmmaker. She is recognized for publishing photographic monographs, directing documentary features and series, producing traveling exhibitions, and publishing in magazines globally. Greenfield was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to psychologist Patricia Marks Greenfield and physician Sheldon Greenfield. She has a younger brother, film producer Matthew Greenfield. Greenfield graduated from Harvard University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual and environmental studies. Her undergraduate thesis at Harvard kick-started her career as she interned for the National Geographic Magazine. Her first major body of work was about the self-esteem crisis amongst American women, titled 'Girl Culture'. Her works have featured in many major collections such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the French Ministry of Culture, and more. Greenfield has received multiple awards and nominations for her documentary films, notably the Sundance Film Festival's Directing Award for her documentary feature film, The Queen of Versailles.
