Lamberto Picasso (21 October 1880 – 17 September 1962) was a distinguished Italian film actor whose career spanned nearly four decades in both silent and sound cinema. Born in La Spezia, a port city in the Liguria region of Italy, Picasso pursued his education at the Istituto Tecnico in Genoa before embarking on what would become a remarkable acting career. He made his acting debut on stage alongside the legendary Ermete Novelli, and subsequently worked with several renowned theater companies led by prominent figures such as Teresa Franchini, Irma Gramatica, and Antonio Gandusio. His talent and dedication to his craft led him to serve as a lieutenant during World War I, after which he transitioned into the role of a stage director, achieving particular acclaim in 1930 with his rendition of R. C. Sherriff's celebrated war drama Journey's End. In 1933, after collaborating with the Russian actress Tatyana Pavlova, he temporarily stepped away from the theater, only to resume his intense stage activity in 1939 before his final retirement from acting in 1957.

Throughout his prolific career, Picasso appeared in 70 films between 1914 and 1953, making him a familiar face in Italian cinema during its golden age. Although he was primarily cast in supporting roles, his versatility allowed him to work across various genres, from historical epics like Scipio Africanus: The Defeat of Hannibal (1937) and Ettore Fieramosca (1938) to dramatic features such as The Wedding March (1934) and The Lovers (1946). His filmography also included notable works like Doctor Antonio (1937), Giuseppe Verdi (1938), Caravaggio (1941), and Messalina (1951). His last theatrical work was a highly successful rendition of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex, directed by the celebrated Vittorio Gassman. Picasso was married to actress Ginevra Cavaciocchi, with whom he shared his life until his death. He passed away on 17 September 1962 in Rome, Italy, at the age of 81, leaving behind a rich legacy in Italian theatrical and cinematic history.
