Kitty Green (born 1984) is an acclaimed Australian film director, editor, producer, and screenwriter renowned for her work on heavy documentary and narrative-driven topics. She first gained recognition with a short film titled Spilt, premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival following her time at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her early career included associations with ABC on 'Art Nation' and 'Artscape' and working in the camera and electrical department for the film Van Diemen's Land (2009). The spotlight widened on her quite significantly with her first documentary, Ukraine is Not a Brothel, a daring exploration of Ukrainian feminism. She even spent a year in her grandmother's native home, Ukraine filming it, where she experienced confrontation with the KGB for her journalistic efforts. Besides this, Green has produced impactful films like Casting JonBenét, The Face of Ukraine: Casting Oksana Baiul and the narrative driven film The Assistant which focused on the #MeToo movement, earning her several accolades along the way. As of 2023, her feature film The Royal Hotel has been positively received.
