Justin Peter Rose (born 30 July 1980 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is an English professional golfer renowned for his consistency on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. Raised in Hook, Hampshire after his family moved to England when he was five, Rose displayed prodigious talent early, breaking 70 at age 11 and holding a +3 handicap by 14. He burst onto the international scene as a 17‑year‑old amateur, finishing tied fourth and earning the silver medal at the 1998 Open Championship, a performance that prompted him to turn professional the following day. The early years of his career were difficult; he missed the cut in his first 21 events and struggled to retain his European Tour card, yet perseverance saw him claim his first professional victory at the 2002 Dunhill Championship followed by three additional wins that season, including the Victor Chandler British Masters.
