Julien Rassam, born Julien Langmann on 14 June 1968 in Paris, France, was a French actor whose life and career were deeply intertwined with one of the most influential families in French cinema. He was the son of celebrated film director Claude Berri, a Jewish filmmaker, and Anne-Marie Rassam, a woman of Lebanese origin with Syrian Christian ancestry. Through his mother, he was the nephew of renowned producer Jean-Pierre Rassam and Paul Rassam, further embedding him within the cinematic world from birth. His brother, Thomas Langmann, also became a film producer, continuing the family's deep involvement in the French film industry. Julien's cousin, Dimitri Rassam, would later carry on this legacy as well, becoming a noted producer in his own right.

Rassam began his acting career as a child in 1972, appearing in two films directed by his father, Claude Berri, which marked the start of his involvement in cinema. By 1992, he took on the lead role in the film Albert Souffre, demonstrating his evolution from a child actor to a serious leading man. That same year, he appeared in The Accompanist, earning a nomination for the César Award for Most Promising Newcomer in 1993, which highlighted his potential as a rising talent. He also wrote and directed the short film Jour de colère in 1992, showcasing his versatility behind the camera. In 1994, he played a supporting role in Queen Margot, one of his most notable films. In the late 1990s, Rassam was in a well-known relationship with actress Marion Cotillard. However, his life took a tragic turn in 2000 when he became a paraplegic after an accidental fall from the fourth floor of the Hôtel Raphael in Paris, mirroring the fate of his mother, Anne-Marie, who had committed suicide in 1997 by jumping from a building. Tragically, Rassam himself took his own life in 2002, dying on 3 February at the age of 33 in Paris, leaving behind a small but memorable body of work.
