Judd Apatow (born December 6, 1967) is an applauded American director, producer, screenwriter, and comedian. His reputation has been built mainly on his work in comedy films, such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Knocked Up (2007), Funny People (2009), This Is 40 (2012), Trainwreck (2015), The King of Staten Island (2020), and The Bubble (2022), all produced and directed through his Apatow Productions. Furthermore, his work isn't confined to the big screen. He produced and developed the TV series Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000), Undeclared (2001–2002), as well as several others, highlighting his versatility in the entertainment industry. Apatow has been nominated for numerous awards throughout his career, including 11 Primetime Emmy Awards (with three wins), five Writers Guild of America Awards (with one win), two Producers Guild of America Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and a Grammy Award. Apatow grew up in New York, where he developed a deep interest in comedy during childhood. He started his career as aspiring comedian performing stand-up at age seventeen.
