Jorja Curtright, also known after her marriage as Jorja Sheldon, was an American stage and film actress who later transitioned into a highly successful career as an interior designer. Born on August 14, 1923, in Amarillo, Texas, she began her acting career during World War II with a memorable debut in the 1943 wartime propaganda film Hitler's Madman, where she portrayed Clara Janek, a young woman who tragically leaps to her death from a hospital window rather than submit to Nazi sterilization. This role showcased her dramatic capabilities and established her presence in Hollywood during one of cinema's most pivotal eras. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Curtright continued to build her acting résumé with appearances in films such as Whistle Stop (1946), Heaven Only Knows (1947), M (1951), and later in major productions including Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing (1955) and The Revolt of Mamie Stover (1956). In 1952, Curtright married the renowned novelist and producer Sidney Sheldon, and the couple welcomed a daughter named Mary. After her acting career, which extended into television with guest roles on series like Dangerous Assignment (1951), Bonanza (1966), and I Dream of Jeannie (1966), Curtright channeled her creative sensibilities and refined aesthetic eye into the world of interior design.
