Jorge Garcia, born April 28, 1973, is a versatile American actor and comedian who was first introduced to the public through his role as Hector Lopez on the TV show Becker. He achieved significant recognition for his portrayal of Hugo "Hurley" Reyes in the TV series Lost from 2004 to 2010. Garcia's talent didn't stop at Lost; he starred in the Fox television series Alcatraz, made an appearance on ABC's Once Upon a Time, and starred as Jerry Ortega on Hawaii Five-0. He also played roles in Netflix film The Ridiculous 6 and comedy series 'Bookie'. Beyond television, Garcia showcased his versatility by appearing on the cover of Weezer's 2010 album Hurley. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, his mother Dora Mesa was a Cuban-born professor and his father, Humberto Garcia, a Chilean-born doctor. He grew up in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, California and graduated from UCLA in 1995, also studied at the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school. Garcia's early career consisted of working at Borders Books and Music for six years while auditioning and appearing in commercials. His first street recognition came from starring in a Jack in the Box commercial which frequently aired on local television. He is also an associate producer and star in the independent film 'When We Were Pirates'. Amazingly, a character called 'Hugo Reyes' was specifically created for him on Lost. Lately, Garcia called attention by diving into the venture of podcasting, starting with co-hosting 'Kaiju Podcast'.
