Joe Tippett: Movies & Box Office

Joe Tippett, an American-born actor, was born on March 1, 1982, and is best known for his roles in popular series like NBC's drama Rise and HBO's crime drama Mare of Easttown. Raised in Damascus, Maryland, Joe’s interests in acting emerged from his involvement in his high school theatre department, where he participated in the musical production, Bye Bye Birdie. After his journey started at Damascus High School, he received a full-ride to West Virginia University which he later departed early. Joe's professional career launched when he completed an apprenticeship and worked at the prestigious Williamstown Theatre Festival. Following this experience, his debut on Broadway was in the play Airline Highway as Bait Boy. In that very year, he performed as Earl Hunterson in the American Repertory Theater production called Waitress. His success continued as he took the lead in the Off-Broadway production of All the Fine Boys two years later. Joe's television career includes notable roles such as Coach Strickland on Rise and Doolittle Lynn, Loretta Lynn's husband, in the TV movie Patsy & Loretta which aired on the Lifetime channel in 2019. In the same year, he was cast as Lucius King in NBC's Prism which is inspired by the 1950 Japanese drama, Rashomon, directed by Akira Kurosawa. In personal life, Joe met singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles in 2015 during the out-of-town tryout for Waitress and they began dating in 2016. Their engagement was announced on New Year’s Day in 2023.
