Joanne Linville (January 15, 1928 – June 20, 2021) was a prominent American actress with noteworthy contributions to both film and television. Born in Bakersfield, California, she began her storied career in 1950 and held an active status until 2005, before returning briefly in 2016. She received much fame for her performance in TV Series like 'The Enterprise Incident' and 'The Passersby'. Linville also held a known presence in education, serving as a teacher at the Stella Adler Academy in Los Angeles post her retirement in the 1980s. She is prominently remembered for starring as a Romulan Commander on Star Trek: The Original Series. Besides her acting career, Linville was also skilled in dancing, a talent she used professionally to pay her tuition during her time studying with Stella Adler. Her film contributions include 'The Goddess' (1958), 'Scorpio' (1973), 'Gable and Lombard' (1976), 'A Star Is Born' (1976), 'The Seduction' (1982), and 'James Dean' (2001). She was cast in numerous Television dramas, with her best-known performance being the Romulan commander in Star Trek episode 'The Enterprise Incident'. This role eventually earned her a cult status within the industry. In her 'retired' life, Linville transitioned into an educational role, teaching 'The Power of Language' at the Stella Adler Academy in Los Angeles.
