Jean Allison (October 24, 1929 – February 28, 2024) was an American actress whose career spanned nearly three decades, leaving a memorable mark on the golden age of television and beyond. Born in New York City, she began her acting journey in the mid-1950s, initially making her mark with minor roles and guest appearances across a wide variety of popular television series. Over the years, Allison became a familiar face on the small screen, appearing in iconic shows such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Charlie's Angels, The Rifleman, Perry Mason, Wanted Dead or Alive, Hawaiian Eye, Emergency!, Starsky & Hutch, Adam-12, and The Dick Van Dyke Show, among many others. Her ability to seamlessly transition between genres, from westerns and crime dramas to supernatural thrillers and sitcoms, made her a versatile and sought-after character actress during the era. One of her most notable television performances was her portrayal of Nora Borden in the Have Gun, Will Travel episode titled The Last Laugh, which aired on January 24, 1958. Beyond television, Allison also built a respectable filmography, appearing in movies like Edge of Fury (1958), Devil's Partner (1961), The Steagle (1971), Bad Company (1972), and Hardcore (1979), where she often played secondary but impactful roles.

Allison also made significant contributions to made-for-television movies, including roles in The Death of Me Yet (1971), The Elevator (1974), and The Strange Possession of Mrs. Oliver (1977). In her personal life, Allison was married three times—first to Lee Philips, then to Jerry Boyd, and finally to Phil Toorvald, with whom she remained until his death in 1994. She had three children: Erin, Sven, and Tina. After retiring from acting, Allison lived a quiet life in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, where she passed away on February 28, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of diverse and enduring performances.
