Jaimie Alexander (born Jaimie Lauren Tarbush on March 12, 1984) grew up in a large Southern family as the fourth child and only daughter of five siblings. After moving from Greenville, South Carolina to Grapevine, Texas at age four, she discovered a love for performance in grade‑school theater, only to be redirected toward athletics when she was expelled from the high‑school drama program for lacking a singing voice. At seventeen she impulsively attended a scouting agency meeting, met future manager Randy James and began receiving scripts. Following her graduation from Colleyville Heritage High School, she relocated to Los Angeles, where her break came in 2003 when director Gregg Bishop cast her in the leading role of Hanna Thompson for the low‑budget indie The Other Side, a part she originally intended only to read opposite male actors. This early success led to a string of genre‑film roles, including Squirrel Trap, the horror‑cult classic Rest Stop, and the thriller Hallowed Ground, while she also secured guest spots on television series such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, CSI: Miami and Bones. Her first major television exposure arrived in 2007 as Jessi on the ABC Family science‑fiction series Kyle XY, where her portrayal of a super‑powered troubled teen earned a dedicated fan base and cemented her reputation as a versatile actress capable of blending vulnerability with intensity.
