Biography

Who Is Hokuto Matsumura?

Hokuto Matsumura was born in Shimada, Japan in 1995 and is 31 years old. Credited on films since 2012, as an actor. The background, training and the roles that shaped the career.

Hokuto Matsumura (松村 北斗) is a Japanese singer and actor born on June 18, 1995 in Shimada, Shizuoka Prefecture. From a young age he demonstrated discipline through martial arts, earning a black belt in karate and placing second in a prefectural tournament, a background that later contributed to his stage presence. His admiration for Tomohisa Yamashita after watching the drama Kurosagi inspired him to apply to the talent agency then known as Johnny & Associates (now Smile‑Up), and he officially joined the company in 2009. Early in his career he appeared in temporary units such as Yuma Nakayama w/B.I.Shadow and NYC boys, releasing his first CD and gaining exposure to the idol industry. Matsumura made his acting debut in the 2012 film Shiritsu Bakaleya Koukou, a performance praised by agency founder Johnny Kitagawa, which led to a lead role in the TBS golden‑hour drama Kuro no Onna Kyoushi. In 2013 he topped Myojo’s “Jr’s Most Wanted As Lover” poll, cementing his popularity among fans. From March 2014 to 2016 he was a regular on the TV Asahi variety show Gamushara, showcasing his comedic timing and versatility. The pivotal moment came in May 2015 at the Johnny’s Ginza concert, where he was announced as a member of the newly formed six‑member group SixTones, alongside fellow Bakaleya cast members. With SixTones he expanded into film, co‑starring with Jesse and Juri Tanaka in Vanilla Boy (2016), and has appeared annually in the historic stage production Shounentachi together with the group Snow Man. His voice‑acting debut came as Souta Munakata in the acclaimed anime Suzume, adding another facet to his artistic portfolio. In 2021 Matsumura was inducted into the Vivi Ikemen Hall of Fame, recognizing his impact on Japanese pop culture. Throughout his career, spanning from 2009 to the present, he continues to balance singing, acting, and variety work, earning a reputation as a dedicated and multifaceted entertainer.
