Herta Ware: Movies & Box Office

Herta Ware, born Herta Schwartz on June 9, 1917 in Wilmington, Delaware, was an iconic American actress and political activist recognized for her distinctive performances across stage as well as screen. She first made her Broadway debut in 1935 co-starring Will Geer, who was her husband at the time, in 'Let Freedom Ring'. The couple kept sharing screen space in other plays like 'Bury the Dead', 'Prelude', '200 Were Chosen' and more. Ware transitioned to on-screen acting in 1978 and made her debut in the television film, 'A Question of Guilt'. Subsequently, she appeared in her first feature film 1980, 'The Black Marble' and then starred in famed films including 'Ron Howard's Cocoon', 'Cocoon: The Return', and 'Critters 2: The Main Course'. Besides feature films, she also held roles in celebrated films such as 'Species', 'Practical Magic' and 'Cruel Intentions'. She also appeared in a plethora of television series including the likes of 'Knots Landing'. She authored a memoir in 2000 titled 'Fantastic Journey, My Life with Will Geer' which chronicles her intriguing journey in the world of cinema and theatre intertwined with her personal life. Ware passed away on August 15, 2005 due to complications of Parkinson's disease.
