Heinrich Gies (22 June 1912 – 26 April 1973) was a German film and television actor whose career spanned nearly two decades during the post-war German cinema era. Born in Siegburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, during the time of the German Empire, Gies came into the world just before the tumultuous events that would reshape Europe in the twentieth century. He began his acting career in 1953 with a role as Kellner im ZK in the film Geheimakten Solvay, marking his entry into the post-war German film industry that was slowly rebuilding itself after the devastation of World War II. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Gies established himself as a versatile supporting actor, frequently appearing in crime films, dramas, and comedies that defined the German cinematic landscape of that period.

During his prolific career, he appeared in numerous notable productions, including Der Teufelskreis (1956), Die Millionen der Yvette (1956), and The Captain from Cologne (1956), where he portrayed the character Dinkelburg. His filmography also included appearances in Sabine und die 100 Männer (1960), Ordered to Love (1961), My Husband, the Economic Miracle (1961), and The Marriage of Mr. Mississippi (1961). Gies also worked in internationally recognized productions such as Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace (1962) and The Invisible Dr. Mabuse (1962). His later work included Hotel by the Hour (1970), which was among his final film appearances before his death in 1973. He passed away on 26 April 1973 in Hannover, Lower Saxony, West Germany, at the age of 60, leaving behind a legacy of contributions to German cinema during its formative post-war years.
