Hédi Váradi (born Váradi Hédi, 22 September 1929 – 11 April 1987) was a celebrated Hungarian actress whose career spanned nearly four decades in both theater and film. Born in Újpest, then part of the Kingdom of Hungary, she discovered her passion for acting at an early age and, by the time she was 18, began formal training under the renowned Hungarian acting teacher Kálmán Rózsahegyi at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest. During her studies, she developed close artistic relationships with fellow students Berek Kati and Imre Soós, connections that would shape her early career trajectory.

From 1952 onward, Hédi became a fixture at the Madách Theatre in Budapest, where her forceful personality and deep, captivating style of play earned her acclaim in both comedy and drama. In 1964, she transitioned to the prestigious National Theatre, where she remained until her death. She was particularly celebrated for her portrayal of Titania in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, one of her signature roles that showcased her remarkable range. Other notable theatrical performances included Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra in Caesar and Cleopatra (1955), Mira in Paradise Lost, Eve in The Tragedy of Man, Maggie in After the Fall, and Kszenyija in Yegor Bulychov and Others.

Her filmography is extensive, beginning with Singing Makes Life Beautiful in 1950 and continuing through more than two dozen films, including Kiskrajcár (1953), Föltámadott a tenger (1953), Alba Regia (1961), Puskák és galambok (1961), Az orvos halála (1965), and her final film Az utolsó kézirat (1986). She also appeared in numerous television productions throughout the 1960s and beyond. In her personal life, she was married for many years to fellow actor Ferenc Bessenyei, though the couple eventually divorced. After refusing life-saving surgery, Hédi succumbed to a serious illness on 11 April 1987 in Budapest at the age of 57. She was laid to rest at the Kerepesi Cemetery in Budapest. On the 16th anniversary of her death in 2003, Deputy Mayor John Schiffer inaugurated a memorial ceremony at her former residence in Budapest's Hercegprímás District, honoring her lasting legacy in Hungarian theater and cinema.
