Hans Petter Moland: Movies & Box Office

Hans Petter Moland, born on October 17, 1955, in Oslo, is an esteemed Norwegian film director with a career in the film industry that began in the early 1990s. Prior to his feature film debut in 1993 with The Last Lieutenant, Moland had gained recognition for his commercial work, claiming awards at major festivals like Cannes. He later followed up his debut with highly-regarded films such as Zero Kelvin (1995), Aberdeen (2000), and The Beautiful Country (2004), the latter of which was chosen for competition in Berlin. Aside from his directorial successes, Moland is also lauded for his short film, United We Stand, which achieved accolades at various prestigious film festivals.

One significant collaboration in Moland's career is his deep-rooted friendship, professional alliance, and repeated work with Swedish actor, Stellan Skarsgård, the duo having worked together on movies such as Zero Kelvin, Aberdeen, and En ganske snill mann (2010). The final film was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. In addition, Moland also made a fourth successful collaboration with Skarsgård on the movie, In Order of Disappearance, which premiered in the competition section of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival. On top of these, Moland made his Hollywood debut in 2019, directing a remake of In Order of Disappearance titled Cold Pursuit and starring well-known actor Liam Neeson.
