Hannah Murray, born as Tegan Lauren-Hannah Murray on 1 July 1989, is a well-recognized English actress. She started her acting career playing Cassie in Skins from 2007 to 2008, and reprised this role in 2013. She followed her success, taking a prominent role as Gilly in the acclaimed HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones from 2012 to 2019, for which she was nominated along with her castmates for three Screen Actors Guild Awards. Her work in films is equally notable, with roles in the musical romance Stuart Murdoch's God Help The Girl in 2014, earning her a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and in the drama film Jeppe Rønde's Bridgend in 2015, for which she won the Tribeca Film Festival for Best Actress Award. She also showed her acting versatility through stage performances in Polly Stenham's That Face in West End in 2008 and in the Off West End play titled Martine in 2014. Being born on 1 July 1989 in Bristol, she was raised by parents working at the University of Bristol, with her father a professor and her mother a research technician. She spent her university years at Queens' College, Cambridge, where she earned her English degree. At the age of 16, she auditioned for young actors in Bristol, which came as a turning point when she was cast as Cassie Ainsworth in Skins, defining a significant point in her career spanning from 2006 to the present.
