Before the outbreak of World War II, she trained in Leningrad for a year in 1937 and established herself in the Czech theatre, also appearing in five early films under various names including Hana Becková, Hana Bělská, and Hana Pravdová, demonstrating her versatility from the start of her career. Her extensive television credits include appearances in Danger Man, Department S, Callan, Z-Cars, Dad's Army, and Tales of the Unexpected, while her film work encompassed roles in Death Wish 3, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and Shining Through, often portraying strong maternal or authoritative figures.
