Born in Budapest, which at the time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he would go on to become one of the recognizable character actors of Hungarian cinema during the early to mid-twentieth century. He began his acting career in 1917, during the final years of the First World War, and remained active in the film industry until 1964, although he passed away in 1963 at the age of 61.
