Gus Halper (born July 2, 1992) is an American actor whose career has been marked by a blend of television, film, and stage work. He was raised in Manhattan, New York City, the son of actress and theatre director Deann Simmons Halper, which immersed him in a creative environment from an early age. Halper pursued formal training at the University of North Carolina School of Arts, graduating in 2014, and during his studies he earned critical praise for playing Romeo in the university’s production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. After completing his degree, he transitioned to professional acting, landing his first screen role in the ABC television film The Kingmakers, where he portrayed Eli, a determined student probing his sister’s mysterious death. The following year he appeared in James Franco‑produced Goat alongside Nick Jonas and Ben Schnetzer, and also took on the challenging role of Mischa Bachinski in the off‑Broadway musical Ride the Cyclone at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, showcasing his versatility in both dramatic and musical formats.
