Giuseppe Gandini (18 March 1900 – 15 October 1989) was an Italian footballer renowned for his disciplined play as a midfielder during the formative years of Italian club football. Born in the northern city of Alessandria, Gandini grew up in a period when the sport was transitioning from a pastime to a professional pursuit, and he quickly displayed a natural affinity for the ball, joining the local side Valenzana in 1920 at the age of twenty. Although precise statistics from his single season with Valenzana remain scarce, his performances caught the eye of his hometown club, Alessandria, where he signed in 1921 and would remain a stalwart for over a decade. During his eleven‑year tenure at Alessandria, Gandini accumulated 222 league appearances and contributed 16 goals, a respectable tally for a player whose primary responsibilities lay in linking defense and attack, disrupting opposition play, and dictating tempo from the centre of the park.
