Gisele Caroline Bündchen (born 20 July 1980) is a Brazilian supermodel, activist, and author who rose to prominence in the late 1990s and became one of the highest‑paid models in the world. Born in Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, she is a sixth‑generation German‑Brazilian and grew up with five sisters, including a fraternal twin who later became her manager. After being discovered by Elite Model Management in 1995, she debuted at New York Fashion Week in 1996 and quickly broke through the “heroin chic” era, earning the nickname “the Brazilian bombshell.” By 1999 she was a Victoria’s Secret Angel and later set records with the $15 million Red Hot Fantasy Bra.
