Biography

Who Is Georgia Schmidt?

Georgia Schmidt was born in United States in 1904. Credited on films since 1963, as an actor. The background, training and the roles that shaped the career.

Georgia Schmidt (August 26, 1904 – April 18, 1997) was a prolific American actress who spent the majority of her career working in Los Angeles, California. Although she may not have been a household name, her face and voice became familiar to generations of television viewers, often in memorable character roles that leveraged her ability to portray elderly women with warmth and charm. One of her most notable contributions to popular culture came as the original voice of Mrs. Beasley, the iconic talking doll manufactured by Mattel, a connection that later allowed her to make a charming appearance on the television series Family Affair, where she played a doll store owner. Schmidt is perhaps best remembered by science fiction fans for her portrayal of the First Talosian in the original Star Trek pilot episode "The Cage," which later aired as part of "The Menagerie" in 1966. This groundbreaking role placed her in television history as part of one of the most recognizable franchises in the genre. Beyond Star Trek, she maintained an active presence across numerous television series throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, frequently appearing in guest spots on popular shows such as The Monkees, Bewitched, The Wild Wild West, Night Gallery, Little House on the Prairie, Charlie's Angels, The Twilight Zone, and The Facts of Life. Her filmography also included small but memorable parts in motion pictures like The Andromeda Strain (1971), Kansas City Bomber (1972), and Goin' South (1978), often playing elderly characters such as "Old Lady" or "Flower Lady." In 1985, Schmidt participated in a lighthearted prank on actor and country singer John Schneider for the NBC program TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes, demonstrating her willingness to remain engaged with the entertainment industry even late in her career. Her final on-screen appearance came in 1986 with Highway to Heaven, capping a career that spanned more than two decades and encompassed dozens of television series and films. Schmidt passed away on April 18, 1997, at the age of 92, leaving behind a rich legacy of supporting performances that helped define an era of American television.
