Gaspard Augé (born 21 May 1979 in Besançon, Franche‑Comté, France) is a French musician, record producer, songwriter, DJ, composer, and graphic designer best known as one half of the award‑winning electronic duo Justice. He grew up in a family of Protestant industrialists; his great‑uncle André Marcel Augé was linked to the metallurgy firm Augé Découpage, later acquired by Diehl Metall, which gave Augé an early exposure to both technical precision and artistic ambition. As a teenager he experimented with music production using an Ableton sequencer and a simple computer microphone, creating his first project, Microloisir, with his cousin Théo Vuarnet. Simultaneously, he cultivated a retro‑futurist aesthetic under the alias Gaspirator, designing clothing for the streetwear brand Sixpack France; one of his shirts was famously worn by M. Pokora in the video for Dangerous.

In 2003 Augé co‑founded Justice with Xavier de Rosnay, and the pair quickly became icons of the French electronic scene, blending heavy distorted synths with dance‑floor sensibilities. Their debut album † (Cross) earned critical acclaim and positioned them as pioneers of the Ed Banger Records sound. Augé’s role extended beyond performance: he contributed to the duo’s visual identity, crafting album art, stage visuals, and the iconic skull logo that symbolizes the project. The duo’s 2019 remix album Woman Worldwide secured a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album, marking a rare French triumph in that category. Outside of Justice, Augé composed the score for the surreal film Rubber (directed by Mr. Oizo) and appeared on screen as a hitchhiker, demonstrating his multidisciplinary talents.

Between 2020 and 2021 he co‑produced Kavinsky’s second album Reborn, further cementing his reputation as a sought‑after producer. In June 2021 he released his first solo album Escapades on Because Music, showcasing his melodic instincts and expanding his sonic palette beyond the aggressive tones of Justice. Throughout his career, Augé has remained an influential figure in contemporary electronic music, merging visual art and sound with a distinctive French flair.
