Fred Lee Scruggs Jr., professionally known as Fredro Starr, is an influential American rapper and actor whose career spans over three decades of hip-hop and entertainment history. Born on April 18, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York, he emerged from the vibrant Queens hip-hop scene in the late 1980s after being discovered by the legendary Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC, who signed him to JMJ Records as a founding member of the hardcore rap group Onyx. The group's debut album, Bacdafucup, achieved multi-platinum status driven by the iconic single "Slam," earning them a Soul Train Music Award and an American Music Award nomination, solidifying their place in East Coast hip-hop lore.
