Fábio Porchat de Assis is a Brazilian actor, humorist, comedian, television host and writer who has become one of the most recognizable faces of contemporary Brazilian comedy. Born on July 1, 1983 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he moved with his family to São Paulo as an infant and lived there until he was nineteen, an experience that exposed him to the vibrant cultural scene of Brazil’s largest city. The son of politician, screenwriter and businessman Fabio Ferrari Porchat de Assis and Isabella Thereza Christina Robinson, Porchat chose a non‑conformist path early on, declaring himself an atheist and deciding to pursue a career in entertainment rather than follow a traditional corporate trajectory. After briefly studying Administration at ESPM in São Paulo, he relocated to Rio de Janeiro to enroll in a drama course at CAL – Casa de Artes das Laranjeiras, which marked the true beginning of his artistic development. His first national exposure came in 2002 when he appeared on the talk show “Programa do Jô” with a parody of the popular sitcom Os Normais, leading to auditions for TV Globo and establishing him as a promising comedic talent. In 2005 he co‑created the stage piece “Infraturas” with Paulo Gustavo, and the following year he joined the pioneering stand‑up collective “Comédia em Pé”, staying until 2011 before launching his solo show “Fora do Normal”. The breakthrough moment arrived in 2012 when he co‑founded the YouTube comedy channel Porta dos Fundos alongside João Vicente de Castro, Antonio Pedro Tabet, Gregório Duvivier and Ian SBF; within six months the channel amassed over 30 million views, catapulting Porchat to internet stardom. His work with Porta dos Fundos earned the group an International Emmy in 2019 for the comedy special “Porta dos Fundos Christmas Special (The Last Hangover)”, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in both digital and traditional media. Beyond online sketches, Porchat has acted in films such as Meu Passado Me Condena and Vai que Dá Certo, hosted television programs, and continues to write and produce content that blends sharp satire with broad‑appeal humor, influencing a new generation of Brazilian comedians.
