Éric Caravaca, born on 21 November 1966, is a renowned French actor, film director, and screenwriter. The son of an engineer of Spanish origin, Caravaca initially ventured into literature while simultaneously taking acting lessons. Post-obtaining his degree, he moved to Paris and joined l'École nationale supérieure d'arts et techniques du théâtre while completing his formation at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique. His journey then led him to the Actors Studio in New York City in 1993, where he spent a year honing his skills.

Upon returning to France, Caravaca began his theatre career and gained prominence with his role in Samuel Beckett's 'Waiting for Godot.' His on-screen debut was in 'Un samedi sur la terre' in 1996 by Diane Bertrand. However, his breakout role came in 1999 with 'C'est quoi la vie?' directed by François Dupeyron, which won him the César Award for Most Promising Actor. He has worked with notable directors such as Patrice Chéreau and has tried his hand at directing, commencing with 'The Passenger' in 2005, presented at the Venice Film Festival.
