His early television work included appearances on frontier series such as Brave Eagle (1955‑1956) where he played recurring tribal characters, and on classic westerns like The Lone Ranger and Gunsmoke, where his performances as characters like Bright Eagle, Monk Wiley, and Lone Wolf demonstrated a nuanced ability to convey both authority and vulnerability.
