Throughout the 1980s he crafted a string of multi‑platinum records for Chicago, producing chart‑topping ballads like “Hard to Say I’m Sorry” and “Hard‑to‑Say‑I’m‑Sorry”, and he co‑wrote timeless classics for artists ranging from Whitney Houston (“I Have Nothing”) to Celine Dion (“Because You Loved Me”). His production signature—a blend of lush orchestration and pristine vocal arrangements—has earned him sixteen Grammy Awards from forty‑seven nominations, three Producer of the Year honors, and a Golden Globe for “The Prayer”.
