Cree Summer Francks (born July 7, 1969) is a American‑Canadian actress and singer whose career has spanned over four decades, making her one of the most prolific voice talents in animation. Born in Los Angeles, California, she spent much of her childhood moving between Saskatchewan and Toronto, absorbing a multicultural environment that later informed her versatile performances. The daughter of celebrated Canadian actors Don Francks and Lili “Red Eagle” Francks, and sister to actor‑musician Rainbow Sun Francks, she entered the entertainment world at age thirteen with an appearance on the Canadian children's program Mr. Dressup. Her breakthrough came when she was cast as Penny in the original Inspector Gadget series in 1983, a role she would revisit decades later in various homages.
