Connie Britton (born Constance Elaine Womack; March 6, 1967) is a highly regarded American actress. Making her debut in the independent comedy-drama film The Brothers McMullen in 1995, she quickly ascended to fame. Notably, Britton has starred in illustrious sitcoms such as Spin City and Nashville, and fiercely gripped audiences through her compelling roles in drama series like Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story. Her role as Tami Taylor in Friday Night Lights garnered her two Emmy nominations and copious positive reviews from critics. Furthermore, her depiction of Vivien Harmon in American Horror Story resulted in an Emmy nomination and allowed her to reprise her role in the show's eighth season. This came while performing as country singer Rayna Jaymes in Nashville, a role that earned her both an Emmy and a Golden Globe nomination. Connie Britton was born Constance Elaine Womack in Boston, Massachusetts. She spent her formative years in Rockville, Maryland, before moving to Lynchburg, Virginia at the age of seven. Here, she nurtured her acting talent, performing in plays at her high school theater. Britton focused her studies on Asian languages, particularly Chinese, at Dartmouth College. After graduating in 1989, she moved to New York City, where she continued studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
