Clément Michu (27 November 1936 – 21 October 2016) was a French film and television actor whose career spanned several decades and left a notable mark on the French audiovisual landscape. Born in Villeurbanne, located in the Metropolis of Lyon in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, Michu developed into one of the recognizable character actors of French cinema and television during the latter half of the 20th century. Throughout his professional life, he built a substantial body of work that included both feature films and television productions, becoming a familiar presence to French audiences. Although the surviving records about him are relatively sparse, his contributions to popular French culture remained significant, particularly through his long-running television roles.

Michu's most enduring contribution to French television was his portrayal of Inspector Guyomard on the popular TF1 series Commissaire Moulin, a role he played from 1980 to 2008. This long-running police procedural gave him iconic status, as he appeared alongside the titular commissioner for nearly three decades, making him one of the longest-serving supporting actors in French crime drama history. Earlier in his career, he gained recognition for his work on Thierry la Fronde, a historical television programme set in medieval France, which aired from 1963 to 1966 and showcased his ability to perform in period pieces. In film, Michu worked with celebrated director Gérard Oury on four separate occasions, appearing in comedies that became classics of French cinema and contributed to his reputation as a reliable and versatile performer. His adaptability allowed him to take on a wide variety of supporting roles, contributing meaningfully to the rich tapestry of French audiovisual production.

Throughout his life, Michu eventually settled in Nogent-sur-Marne, a suburban commune near Paris, where he lived for many years. He passed away on 21 October 2016 at the age of 79, and his death was reported by major French publications including Le Figaro, Le Monde, and Le Parisien, reflecting his standing in French cultural life. Though often remembered primarily for his famous television role as Inspector Guyomard, Michu's body of work across both film and television represents a significant chapter in post-war French entertainment history.
