Clifford Tobin DeYoung, born on February 12, 1945, is a versatile performing artist who has made his name as both an American actor and influential musician. Born in Los Angeles, California, DeYoung kick-started his career with a leading role as the singer of the 1960s rock group, Clear Light. He sparkled brightly in this role, even sharing the stage and fame with renowned artists like The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. When his rock band called it a day, DeYoung shifted his aspirations towards Broadway, where he starred in the productions of 'Hair' and the Tony Award-winning 'Sticks and Bones. Following four years in New York, he returned to California, during which time he featured in the television film Sunshine (1973), featuring the work of the legendary John Denver. Following this success, DeYoung further entrenched himself in the acting realm where he appeared in more than 80 films and numerous television series. These included a variety of roles in films like Harry and Tonto (1974), The Lindbergh Kidnapping Case (1976), and The 3,000 Mile Chase (1977). Apart from these, his television appearances varied across popular shows such as 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine', 'JAG', and 'The West Wing'. He also notably starred in the television show 'Beauty and the Beast' as a voodoo specialist, Professor Alexander Ross. More recently, DeYoung made appearances in significant projects like independent romantic thriller Road to Nowhere (2010) and film Wild (2014).
