Christopher John Weitz, born November 30, 1969, is a multifaceted talent in the American film industry as a director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. Perhaps best known for his collaborative projects with his brother, Paul Weitz, his credits include the comedy films, American Pie and About a Boy; the latter earned the brothers an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. Weitz also directed the film adaptations of The Golden Compass and New Moon from the Twilight series, was the scriptwriter for Disney's 2015 live-action adaptation of Cinderella, and co-wrote Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Weitz's filmography is decorated with high-profile works but his career began with the animated feature Antz. He swiftly moved into directing, with projects like American Pie, Down to Earth, and About a Boy. His directorial ventures also include The Golden Compass, which faced severe editorial changes in post-production, and the Twilight Saga sequel New Moon.
