Chan Tzu-hsuan, known in Chinese as 詹子萱, was born on 16 July 1997 in Taoyuan, Taiwan, where she developed an early passion for performing arts despite initial parental objections to her attending performing arts school. After discovering her love for acting during a high school project involving music video parodies, she pursued higher education at Jinwen University of Science and Technology, earning a Bachelor of Business in international trade while working part-time at a restaurant. It was during this time that a colleague recognized her potential and connected her with a talent agency, leading to her first appearances in advertisements and music videos starting in 2019, including notable works for Men Envy Children and Fool and Idiot. Determined to hone her craft professionally, Chan relocated to Beijing in 2020 to undergo intensive training at an 18-month acting workshop hosted by renowned actresses Zhou Xun and Shu Qi, though she faced early setbacks when she was replaced in a short film role. Her persistence paid off when she gained significant public attention in 2022 after starring in Li Ronghao's widely popular music video for "The Dark Plum Sauce", which showcased her on-screen charisma and marked the beginning of her transition from music video appearances to serious acting roles.

Chan's professional acting debut came in 2022 when she portrayed Wang Shih-yun in the crime mystery film The Post-Truth World alongside Edward Chen, prompting her return to Taiwan and her signing with Ning Chang's talent agency. She quickly expanded her portfolio by appearing in music videos for Hong Kong singer MC Cheung Tin-fu in 2023 and securing a minor role in the horror film The Bridge Curse: Ritual, but her true breakthrough arrived in 2024 with her lead and titular role as Chu Ai, a sex vlogger, in the Netflix sex comedy series Let's Talk About Chu. Her fearless and authentic portrayal earned critical acclaim from reviewers like James Marsh of the South China Morning Post, who called her performance "likeable" and convincing, while Chien Ying-jou of United Daily News praised her "refreshing" presence, drawing comparisons to Lily Collins in Emily in Paris. This role culminated in her winning Best Newcomer in a Miniseries or Television Film at the 59th Golden Bell Awards and being named Top Talent by the Taipei Film Festival. In the same prolific year, she demonstrated her versatility by taking on a lead role in the homosexual romance film A Balloon's Landing and a recurring role as Ms. Pumpkin in the Netflix drama Born for the Spotlight, with an upcoming mystery series alongside veteran actress Cheryl Yang poised to further establish her as one of Taiwan's most promising emerging stars.
