Cameron Rhodes (born 1 August 1967) is a New Zealand film, television and theatre actor who has also established himself as a director, known for his versatile performances across genres and mediums. After graduating from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School in 1987 with a Diploma in Acting, Rhodes launched a career that has spanned more than three decades, contributing to over one hundred stage productions in both New Zealand and Australia. His early screen work includes appearances in cult series such as Xena: Warrior Princess and Power Rangers titles, where he showcased both on‑screen acting and voice‑over talent, later adding roles in internationally recognised films like The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (as Farmer Maggot) and Mr. Pip. On television, Rhodes became a household name in New Zealand as Dr Plummer in the long‑running mystery series The Brokenwood Mysteries, and more recently as Uvidus in the Spartacus: House of Ashur prequel slated for 2025. His theatrical repertoire is equally impressive, featuring leading parts such as Hercule Poirot in Murder On the Orient Express, Cyrano in Cyrano De Bergerac, and Orgon in Tartuffe for Silo Theatre. In 2014 he expanded his creative scope by co‑directing the Auckland Theatre Company production Once On Chanuk Bair with Ian Mune, and he continued to act in ambitious stage works like Black Lover (portraying former Prime Minister Garfield Todd) in 2020. Rhodes’s film credits also include The Royal Treatment (2023) and the horror‑comedy Deathgasm (2015), while his voice work extends to video games such as Path of Exile.
