He shot to fame for his outstanding portrayal of Pennywise in the horror films based on Stephen King's novel, It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019). Skarsgård continued his horror genre journey, appearing in series like Hemlock Grove (2013–2015) and Castle Rock (2018–2019), in addition to his part in the film Barbarian (2022). Beyond horror, Skarsgård's range as an actor is extensive, spanning a variety of genres such as comedy, thriller, drama, and action in projects like Simple Simon (2010), The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016), and Atomic Blonde (2017), to name a few.
