Behnaz Jafari (born 16 August 1975 in Tehran, Iran) is a prominent Iranian actress whose career spans over three decades of film, television, and stage work. She earned a bachelor’s degree in dramatic literature from the Islamic Azad University, where she deepened her theoretical understanding of performance art. Jafari’s first formal training came at the School of Art and Literature for Children and Adolescents under the mentorship of renowned artists such as Roya Teymorian, Farideh Sepah‑Mansour, and Golab Adineh, leading to her theatrical debut in 1993 with The Snake King. Two years later she transitioned to the screen, appearing in Rakhshan Bani‑Etemad’s critically acclaimed film The Blue Veiled (1995), and quickly followed with a television debut in the series Dust of Light (1996). Throughout the 2000s she amassed a diverse portfolio, including roles in A House Built on Water (2001), for which she received the Crystal Simorgh for Best Supporting Actress at the 20th Fajr Film Festival, and notable performances in The Gaze (2006) and 3 Faces (2018). Her work on television series such as Mokhtarnameh (2010‑2011) and The Girl’s House (2017) further cemented her status as a versatile performer.

Despite a flourishing career, Jafari faced a personal challenge when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in March 2015, a battle she has fought publicly while continuing to act. She has since appeared in a range of projects, from the socially resonant Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness (2019) to the romantic drama Tehran: City of Love (2019).
