Barbara Meier, born on 25th July 1986, is a German fashion model and actress who gained fame by winning the second season of Germany's Next Topmodel. Born and raised in Amberg, a small Bavarian town, she initially pursued a career in mathematics. However, her life took a turn when she was approached by a model scout during her studies. Despite having no modeling experience, Meier managed to compete and win against 16,421 other contenders in the TV show, Germany's Next Topmodel. This victory marked the beginning of her successful journey in the modeling industry, which got her contracts with notable names like IMG Models in Paris, Cosmopolitan and C&A. Additionally, she became the face of numerous advertising campaigns for brands like Pantene, C&A, Disneyland Resort Paris, Maybelline and many more. Since January 2016, she has been promoting Schaebens, a cosmetics manufacturer. Meier also marked her presence on international runways for various designers at Fashion Week Berlin and others. In addition to her modeling ventures, Barbara Meier has also stepped into acting and authoring. She attended the New York Film Academy in 2011 for basic education and has since then taken private acting lessons. Her notable roles include films and TV series like ProSieben mystery thriller Schreie der Vergessenen and a prime role in the short film Wiegenlied. Furthermore, she has used her fame for good causes as an ambassador for the Year of Mathematics, the advertising ambassadors of the Deutsches Museum in Munich, and the campaign Inform of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture among others. She also authored the book 'Dein Weg zum Glücksgewicht' which aims to motivate women and encourages them to feel comfortable in their bodies.
