Barbara Eve Harris (born Barbara Evadney Reid-Hibbert on March 8, 1959) is a Canadian actress whose career spans more than three decades of diverse television and film work. Born in Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaican parents, she migrated with her family to Canada at the age of six, a move that would shape her cultural identity and future opportunities in the North American entertainment industry. Growing up in a multicultural environment, Harris developed an early fascination with performance, eventually channeling that passion into formal acting studies after completing her secondary education. Her breakthrough came in the mid‑1980s, when she secured her first professional role, marking the beginning of a prolific period that would see her appear in over sixty television productions and numerous feature films.
