Atle Antonsen: Movies & Box Office

Atle Antonsen (born 11 August 1969 in Lillehammer, Norway) is a prominent Norwegian comedian and actor whose career has spanned more than two decades, shaping contemporary Scandinavian humor through television, radio, film, and live performance. He first broke onto the national scene with the sketch series XL and its successor XLTV (1998–99), quickly establishing a reputation for sharp satire and energetic stage presence. Throughout the 2000s he became a staple of Norwegian comedy, appearing in cult favorites such as Nissene på låven (2001), the absurdist sitcom Uti vår hage (2003‑2008), and the award‑winning series Team Antonsen (2004), often collaborating with fellow comedians Harald Eia, Bård Tufte Johansen, Kristopher Schau, Johan Golden and Espen Thoresen Hværsaagod‑Takkskalduha. His versatility extended to voice work, starring in the animated feature Kurt blir grusom (2008), and to film, delivering memorable performances in the comedy Kong Curling (2011) and the television drama Tre brødre som ikke er brødre, for which he received the Gullruten award for Best Actor in 2006. Beyond screen roles, Antonsen has been a prolific radio personality, co‑hosting the weekly show Misjonen on P4 since 2008, following the earlier program Kommisjonen on Kanal 24, and he regularly engages audiences with improvised humor and topical commentary. In 2012 he showcased his theatrical range by portraying King Arthur in the highly successful Norwegian production of Spamalot at Folketeatret in Oslo. Since 2019 he has served as the charismatic Taskmaster in Kongen befaler, the Norwegian adaptation of the British series Taskmaster, a role that earned the show a Gullruten for Best Entertainment Program in 2022. Despite a brief controversy in 2022 that led to a temporary departure, he returned to the program in 2023, reaffirming his status as a resilient and influential figure in Norway’s entertainment landscape.
